FAQS

Age Eligibility

Age eligibility is based on a player’s age on or before August 31, 2026.

Grade-based eligibility uses an athlete’s grade as of October 1, 2025, along with a division-specific maximum age on or before August 31, 2026.

Age-based eligibility is based only on age by Aug 31, 2026. Grade-based eligibility can allow a player to compete in a division tied to their grade (as of Oct 1, 2025) even if they’re slightly older—if they meet that division’s grade-policy maximum age. WYBC is NOT using grade-based eligibility in this event unless otherwise indicated.

In most cases, players can compete in older divisions if the team chooses, but they must meet any division requirements and roster rules. WYBC may review placements to support competitive balance.

Teams should be prepared to provide proof of age and (if using grade-based eligibility) proof of grade. Documentation and/or NationalSports ID registration may be required.

Not in this event. Traditionally other tournaments have allowed for grade eligibility but WYBC is only allowing for age based eligibility unless otherwise indicated.

WYBC Global Games is independently operated and is not affiliated with AAU. WYBC’s 2026 eligibility framework is modeled after widely used youth basketball standards for clarity and fairness. For your reference please see the AAU eligibility rules here.
